Steven Hugley is a graduate of Warren Central High School where he was the drum major and a member of the Mississippi Lions All-State Band. After graduation he went to Delta State University, where in 2012 he was awarded his Bachelors of Music Education. In his time at DSU, he participated in the award winning DSU saxophone quartet, played lead in the Jazz band, was Drum Major, marched bass drum as a member of the "Rhythm of the Delta" drum line, was a member of the DSU Steel Drum Band, and performed with the wind ensemble playing saxophones, clarinets, and bassoon. Mr. Hugley also participated in many choirs while at DSU and traveled to Germany, Prague, and the Czech Republic in 2010 while on tour with the DSU choirs. In 2012, he also performed with choirs from around the world on Carnegie Hall Stage in New York City as a part of an Evening with Whitacre, where the mass choir performed music by and was conducted by Eric Whitacre. Mr. Hugley is currently an assistant band director at Grenada High School located in Grenada, MS, where his teaching responsibilities consist of the Middle School Jazz Band, the High School Jazz Band II, and the high school Concert Band, as well as assisting with several other ensembles.
Mr. Hugley is currently pursuing his Masters of Music Education in Conducting from Sam Houston State University as a part of American Band College. He is currently on schedule to complete his degree in 2017. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa leadership Fraternity, and in 2012 was selected as "Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities." His endorsements include Cannonball Music as a Cannonball Educator. He currently resides in Coffeeville with his wife, Katie Hugley, and their two dogs, Ally and Kerri.
